The New KKK

And we only have that arsenal
So that you won't raise no fuss,

And if you don't like that, then call the cops,

'Cause the chances are, they're us

--Your Friendly. Liberal Neighborhood KKK,

Chad Mitchell Trio

_______

Barack Obama often comments that his father is Kenyan. His mother is from Kansas. Some in the press opine that he is the inheritor of Martin Luther King's legacy (though some say he is more lawyer-like and professorial than ministerial, save when it comes to co-opting the great orator's rhetoric.) Let's see, that's three K's -- Kansas/Kenya/King.

It appears that Obama is a KKK kind of guy.

This post sucks. Next you'll accuse him of being Gov. Faubus's illegitimate son or something. Please, just the facts, not whatever this was.

old bogus,

We're glad for some spirited dissent from a thoughtful reader.

I think what Jim meant in this light post was, Obama is a one-note Johnny. He is a part of the institution, not apart from it. The other KKK is just another institution (sadly) in our culture.

It is a play on acronyms, to say they are different, but not different (from the status quo.)

He may comment further tomorrow.

old bogus, Yes Lisa is correct in her comment. It seems that the support for Obama is as mindless as the supporters of the kkk. That's all i'm trying to say. In my world that is a fact.As for Obamas legitimacy , you can judge for yourself. This is none of my concern. jim

i've been watching this "change" chorus with more than a little jaundice around the eyes.

frankly, as a recovering alcoholic and addict, the whole change thing sounds pretty much the same.

i found, for true change to occur, i had to journey deep inside my own soul. from there, i was able to change me. then, and only then, did my world start to change.

you can't hire somebody to make those changes. you can't elect them to do it for you.

in the words of that old hymn:

ain't nobody else
can walk it for you.

you got to walk it
by yourself.

MB,

I agree with you wholeheartedly.
Others may think it corny, but the truth is, one must be the change they wish to see in the world. No committee is going to do it for you.

Margaret Mead: "I must admit that I personally measure success in terms of the contributions an individual makes to her or his fellow human beings."
