Amazing site! Glad I was not a Londoner during those times. The statistics called out are: 20,000 civilians dead, a million plus homes destroyed, 57 consecutive nights of bombing.
If my math is correct then with only 2 dead for every 100 homes destroyed the Brits had one hell of an early warning system and built in bomb shelters with their subway system.
Thank you, mike, that's an amazing site.
One of my mother's aunts went mad during the blitz. She of course was not alone ... it would have taken a very strong constitution to have weathered that assault.
